The Algeria and Chad have inked a landmark agreement on Thursday in N’Djamena to streamline cooperation projects in public works and infrastructure development. The landmark deal aims to fast-track initiatives agreed upon during high-level talks held in April.
According to an official statement from the Algerian Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, this new accord reinforces bilateral ties and ensures swifter implementation of previously signed commitments.
Trans-Saharan highway project moves forward with joint studies
Signed by Abdelkader Djellaoui, Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, and Amir Idriss Kourda, Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Road Unblocking and Maintenance, the agreement was finalized during a coordination meeting in N’Djamena. The session took place on the second day of the Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad, attended by key figures including the Director-General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and executives from Cosider Group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP).
Chad’s Deputy Minister in charge of Infrastructure, along with senior officials, also participated in the discussions. During the meeting, the Chadian minister highlighted the “rapid momentum” driving the execution of bilateral agreements, pointing to tangible progress since the April 22 signing in Algiers. Progress includes reciprocal technical assessments and the initiation of feasibility studies for the Trans-Saharan highway project across Chadian territory.
