Algerian prime minister concludes Niger visit after energy project inauguration

Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb concluded a two-day official visit to Niamey on Wednesday, departing after inaugurating the 40-megawatt Algerian-Nigerien Solidarity Power Plant.

The facility, a gift from Algeria to Niger, symbolizes the deep fraternal ties and cooperation between the two nations, reinforcing Niger’s energy infrastructure. The project was developed under the guidance of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who entrusted Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb with leading the delegation.

The inauguration ceremony was co-chaired by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and his Nigerien counterpart, Ali Lamine Zeine Mahaman. The event highlighted the strategic partnership in energy cooperation between Algeria and Niger, aiming to bolster Niger’s developmental goals.

Following the ceremony, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb met with Nigerien Head of State General Abdourahamane Tiani. During the meeting, he conveyed President Tebboune’s fraternal greetings and reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to strengthening solidarity, cooperation, and fraternal relations between the two countries.

At his departure from Niamey International Airport, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb was seen off by Niger’s Prime Minister and Algeria’s Ambassador to Niger, Ahmed Saadi.
