Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo received a delegation from the Inter-African Federation of Insurance Brokers (FIAC) on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. The delegation, led by Acting President Vakaramoko Samaké, presented the stakes of the federation’s 16th annual general meeting, scheduled from 10 to 13 June 2026 in Ouagadougou.
Held under the theme “The role of insurance brokerage in expanding access and improving penetration rates,” this major event aims to position brokers as key drivers of financial inclusion.
The regional gathering will bring together nearly 200 insurance brokers from the 14 CIMA member countries, as well as Guinea Conakry and Ghana. Following the audience, the FIAC acting president praised the prime minister’s personal commitment in agreeing to sponsor the event.

“We showed him the importance of our profession. Today, insurance brokers contribute to the economic development of our countries and to job creation. This general assembly marks the beginning of a qualitative change we intend to bring about. The theme of financial inclusion is a new starting point for supporting our populations through insurance brokerage,” Samaké explained.
The head of government, for his part, welcomed the choice of Burkina Faso’s capital to host this 16th edition. He described it as “a mark of fraternity” toward the country.
“We have chosen a path that brings us much demonization and negative stereotypes. We remain calm because the country is progressing in all areas, as shown by macroeconomic indicators,” the prime minister stated.
He then emphasized the relevance of the theme, which is at the heart of the government’s agenda. “Your role is important. Today, insurance is essential in every sector. In rural areas, we now speak of climate insurance. This proves that risks are expanding and that a minimum of coverage is needed for our populations,” he noted.
Reaffirming the government’s willingness to make insurance brokerage a tool for resilience, the prime minister concluded: “Be assured of our readiness to work alongside you and to take into account the recommendations from your deliberations. I invite you to unite and stay in tune with the changes of our time.”
With this audience, the government confirms its determination to make this sector a major player in Burkina Faso’s refoundation and economic resilience.
