Chad supreme court trial begins for opposition leader Succès Masra
Security measures tighten as the trial of influential opposition figure Succès Masra commences at the Supreme Court, with journalists barred from entry.
Proceedings kicked off in a confined chamber of the Supreme Court, with opposition leader Succès Masra notably absent. A robust security framework, integrating police, gendarmerie, and nomadic guards, was enforced across the roundabout and key routes leading to the court.
Local and international media representatives were expelled from the premises. The head of the National Human Rights Commission was turned away by the nomadic guard commander. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court president engaged in direct dialogue with Masra’s legal team. Despite the Transformers party chairman’s absence, his legal representatives took the floor to defend his interests.
