In a coordinated effort to enforce livestock regulations ahead of the Tabaski festivities, a joint task force comprising the Ministry of Livestock, Sanitary Police, and security forces raided a hidden operation in N’Djamena’s 8th arrondissement. The crackdown unearthed more than 100 ailing cattle and 40 infected sheep, all allegedly procured by an unidentified international NGO with local accomplices. These animals were slated for distribution as charitable offerings to residents during Tabaski.
The following day, Dr. Ousmane Yosko Souhoumi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Livestock and Animal Production, personally inspected the site. Upon confirming the violations, he issued strict directives: carcasses must be incinerated to prevent disease spread, surviving livestock must receive urgent veterinary care, and heightened monitoring is required to safeguard public health.
This decisive action underscores the government’s commitment to eradicating clandestine practices that endanger both livestock and human welfare in Tchad.
