ID4Africa 2026: Abidjan hosts digital identity leaders in west africa

From May 12 to 15, 2026, Abidjan will host the 7th annual ID4Africa General Assembly at the Port-Bouët Exhibition Park. The event centers on the theme “Digital identity: from public digital infrastructure to digital public ecosystems.”

ID4Africa serves as a pivotal pan-African gathering, uniting public policymakers, technical specialists, private sector innovators, and international institution representatives. The opening ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, under the leadership of the Vice-President of the Republic, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné.

Over four days, discussions will focus on secure population identification, seamless access to digital public services, data protection, and the development of inclusive digital ecosystems. The conference emphasizes moving beyond technical infrastructure alone to embrace holistic systems that integrate legal, institutional, human, and sector-specific dimensions.

Since its inception in 2014, ID4Africa has supported African nations in building robust, responsible identity ecosystems to drive digital transformation, foster development, and enhance humanitarian efforts. This year’s gathering in Côte d’Ivoire underscores the country’s commitment to advancing the continent’s digital future, highlighting the critical role of reliable digital identity in ensuring citizens access essential services efficiently.
