Yan Diomandé slowly closing in on PSG move
With 13 goals and 10 assists for Leipzig, Yan Diomandé is one of the most watched players on the still-quiet transfer market, largely due to the World Cup. The 19-year-old forward is among those competing in North America and is set to face Norway in the round of 16 on Tuesday (7 p.m. French time). Meanwhile, clubs are crafting their strategies.
Paris Saint-Germain’s position is clear. The reigning two-time European champions are ready to act if Yan Diomandé makes them his priority. The winger is said to believe in the project led by Luis Campos and wants to play under Luis Enrique, hoping to follow the path of Ousmane Dembélé by winning multiple trophies, including the Ballon d’Or. PSG is looking for one or two attacking additions and has its eye on the Ivorian, as does Liverpool, which has already opened talks with Leipzig—who are demanding €130 million. PSG appears to have taken the lead.
“I’ve loved PSG since I was a kid”
So far, Yan Diomandé, under contract until 2030, has kept his future uncertain. “I don’t know (what choice I’ll make). I’m not thinking about my future after the World Cup,” he said after Ivory Coast qualified for the round of 16. “I’m trying to focus all my energy on the World Cup and see what happens next, but I can’t say anything about that.” Before the tournament, the Ivorian sent a clear signal to PSG: “I’ve loved PSG since I was a kid. I think my dad was a PSG fan. But I’m not looking ahead; I’m focused on the World Cup. We’ll see what happens afterwards.”
