75 educators trained in digital skills for ivoire schools

The Côte d’Ivoire’s education system is taking a significant leap forward with the training of 75 pedagogical inspectors in digital competencies. This initiative is part of the second phase of the Digital Skills Development for Supervisory and Teaching Staff (DCNPEE) project, held in Yamoussoukro from May 4 to 6, 2026.

Organized by UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training (MENAET) through the Directorate of Technologies and Information Systems (DTSI), the workshop aimed to equip education leaders with essential digital tools. These 75 inspectors, selected from 25 regional education directorates, represent a critical step toward nationwide digital transformation in Ivorian schools.

empowering educators for a digital future

The three-day training focused on practical digital skills for inspectors in Mathematics, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT), and Physics-Chemistry. Participants learned to create interactive teaching materials, design engaging presentations, and integrate artificial intelligence into their instructional methods. The goal is to enhance teaching quality and make learning more dynamic and student-centered.

This initiative builds on the success of Phase 1, which already trained 43 inspectors, demonstrating a commitment to equitable and progressive nationwide adoption. The project aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s National Digital Education Strategy (SNDECI 2024-2028), which seeks to modernize the education sector.

a strategic role for inspectors

Participants praised the relevance and adaptability of the training modules, highlighting their immediate applicability to current educational challenges. UNESCO and DTSI officials emphasized the pivotal role of these inspectors as change agents, tasked with cascading digital knowledge to teachers across all regions of Côte d’Ivoire.

This milestone is a key component of the DCNPEE 2 project, funded by GIZ. The next phase will focus on strengthening the digital skills of IT managers, further advancing the vision of a modern, inclusive, and high-performing Ivorian education system.
