Bénin forms continuity-focused government with digital innovation push

Hours after taking office as President of Bénin, Romuald Wadagni announced the composition of his inaugural cabinet. The 22-member executive team, complemented by three deputy ministers, blends experienced officials from the previous administration with fresh strategic appointments.

This government structure reflects President Wadagni’s dual objectives: maintaining momentum on critical reforms initiated under Patrice Talon’s leadership while introducing new initiatives in digital transformation, innovation and public sector governance.

Key appointments signal policy direction

The cabinet reshuffle places seasoned administrators in key positions while introducing specialized portfolios. Yvon Détchénou assumes leadership of the Ministry of Justice and Legislation, while Aristide Médenou takes charge of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

In national security and public order, Gildas Agonkan heads the Ministry of National Defense, and Djibril Mama Cissé Moussa oversees the Ministry of Interior and Public Security.

Diplomatic and economic portfolios see strategic continuity

The foreign affairs portfolio goes to Corinne Amori Brunet, while Olushegun Adjadi Bakari retains his role in the Ministry of Tourism, Foreign Trade and Industry—a position crucial for economic expansion.
