Benin Togo strengthen bilateral ties with high-level talks in lome

Bénin and Togo deepen strategic partnership during presidential visit to Lomé

The President of Bénin, Romuald Wadagni, arrived in Lomé today for a working visit aimed at reinforcing the deep-rooted friendship and bilateral cooperation between Bénin and Togo. The visit underscores a new chapter in West African diplomacy.

Upon landing at the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, President Wadagni was greeted by Togo’s Head of State, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé. The meeting, part of a broader regional tour since his inauguration on May 24, focused on shared priorities including regional development, economic integration, and sub-regional stability.

Diplomatic engagement and regional leadership

Lomé’s role as a hub for political dialogue and diplomatic coordination in West Africa was on full display as top officials from both nations gathered for the visit. The reception at the airport included key figures such as government ministers, MPs, and traditional leaders from Greater Lomé, highlighting the importance of the occasion.

This high-level engagement reflects the commitment of both countries to strengthen ties in critical sectors like trade, infrastructure, security, energy, and the free movement of goods and people. The visit follows a pattern of intensified cooperation between the two neighboring nations, bound by history, geography, and mutual interests.

Shared vision for regional progress

With a long-standing partnership rooted in solidarity, Bénin and Togo are reinforcing their collaboration to drive sustainable development and regional integration. The discussions in Lomé represent a step forward in consolidating these efforts at the highest level.

Two nations, one shared ambition: building a stronger, more connected West Africa.
