Cameroon’s representation at the au summit

Following his widely reported return to Yaoundé just a week prior, President Paul Biya will not personally attend the 21st extraordinary session of the African Union’s Conference of Heads of State and Government in Luanda. Instead, the Head of State has formally mandated Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute to convey Cameroon’s position and contributions at this significant assembly.

Prime Minister Ngute departed from Yaoundé on Saturday, heading for Luanda, Angola. This extraordinary session is specifically dedicated to fortifying the existing frameworks for conflict prevention and resolution throughout Africa. Discussions are expected to cover various regional challenges, including the persistent Boko Haram insurgency in Cameroon’s Far North region and the ongoing separatist crisis affecting the country’s Anglophone areas.

Subsequent to his engagement in Angola, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Serbia. There, he will again represent President Biya at a high-level meeting commemorating the 65th anniversary of the inaugural Conference of Heads of State and Government of Non-Aligned Countries. This event is slated to take place in Belgrade from August 31 to September 1, 2026.
