Chad: significant weapon haul in Moyen-Chari province boosts security efforts
Chad’s Minister of Armies, Issaka Malloua Djamouss, traveled to Sarh to assess security and champion disarmament. Recent operations led to the recovery of 247 weapons.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Minister of Armies, Veterans, and War Victims, Army General Issaka Malloua Djamouss, arrived in Sarh, the administrative center of Chad’s Moyen-Chari province. His visit marked a crucial working mission focused on evaluating and enhancing regional security.
Upon his arrival at Sarh airport, General Djamouss was welcomed by Abderaman Ahmat Bargou, the government’s delegate general for Moyen-Chari province. Key administrative and military officials, alongside leaders from the defense and security forces, were also present to greet the minister.
The primary objectives of this mission were to engage with provincial military leaders, conduct a comprehensive assessment of the security landscape, and bolster ongoing initiatives aimed at safeguarding both the populace and their assets.
During his visit, authorities presented General Djamouss with a significant cache of 247 weapons. This impressive haul, comprising both military-grade firearms and artisanal weapons, had been successfully recovered from civilians. These critical disarmament operations were carried out in recent weeks by local defense and security forces, with vital support from the Chad–Central African Republic Joint Force.

Government delegate Abderaman Ahmat Bargou reiterated the province’s unwavering commitment to achieving a definitive goal: “Zero arms in the hands of civilians in 2026 and 2027.” He commended the dedication and effectiveness of the forces participating in this crucial disarmament campaign.
After personally inspecting the substantial quantity of seized weapons, Minister Issaka Malloua Djamouss extended his congratulations to the various defense and security forces for their steadfast commitment. He further encouraged provincial authorities to persist in their efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability throughout Moyen-Chari.
During the remainder of his stay in Sarh, the minister is scheduled to conduct several working sessions with military and security officials. These meetings aim to thoroughly assess current challenges and formulate new strategic directions to further strengthen security measures across Moyen-Chari province.
