Tragic events unfolded over the weekend in northern Burkina Faso, where suspected jihadist assaults resulted in the deaths of at least 22 military personnel and civilian auxiliaries.
On Saturday morning, a base belonging to a Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) in Di, located near Dédougou, came under direct assault from jihadist elements. This devastating attack led to the loss of at least fourteen soldiers and seven VDP, who are civilian volunteers supporting the national defense efforts.
Separately, the town of Solhan also suffered a significant attack, claiming multiple lives, including that of a military officer. These coordinated incidents underscore the persistent security challenges facing Burkina Faso.
