The Malian branch of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Oulema held its national preselection for the third edition of the prestigious Hadith Nabawi Acharif memorization contest on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Hosted at the organization’s headquarters in Banankabougou, the event saw a day of intense academic rivalry. By the end of the session, three talented candidates were chosen to represent Mali in the upcoming international grand finale, where they will compete against winners from 49 other countries.
This competition aligns with the strategic objectives set by the Superior Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Oulema. The preliminary stage brought together 50 participants from various Quranic memorization centers and medersas, traveling from both Bamako and several regional areas across Mali.
The primary goal of this initiative is to motivate the younger generation in Africa to study and internalize the Prophet’s teachings. By engaging with these sacred texts, the foundation seeks to cultivate essential values such as moderation, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence within society.
Participants were evaluated across three specific categories. In the first discipline, focused on the elementary level with 40 Hadiths, Ahmad Sow secured the top prize. The second discipline, representing the intermediate level with 30 Hadiths, was won by Mouhamad Diallo. Finally, Boubacar Traoré took home the award for the third discipline, which covered 30 Hadiths at the superior level.
