The PSG concluded their Ligue 1 campaign with a 2-1 defeat to the Paris FC in the 34th matchday. Though the game held no stakes for the league title, the Parisian side now shifts its focus entirely to the impending Champions League final.
Speaking after the match, Marquinhos, the team’s captain, reflected on the outcome and shared his thoughts on the season’s journey. He acknowledged the shortcomings in their performance, particularly in the first half, stressing the need for improvement ahead of the high-stakes European showdown.
“We have two weeks to prepare properly for our ultimate goal”
“Everything that happened today has to be analyzed. We need to address what went wrong, especially after a loss. Clearly, we didn’t play the match we should have. We had to perform better, especially in the opening half, where we weren’t at our best. We managed to score in the second, but that’s not enough.” The Brazilian defender spoke candidly to the media, emphasizing the urgency to refine their approach ahead of the Champions League final.
“We have two weeks to get ready for this last challenge. The ceremony after the match felt right. Given the circumstances, it was the right thing to do. We celebrated our title—something we worked tirelessly for all season. Winning the league was never going to be easy, especially this year, with so many obstacles along the way.“
He added, “A Champions League final is one of the greatest rewards any season can offer. Playing in a final here in Paris is my third in 13 years, which just shows how hard it is to reach this stage. This season has been intense, even with today’s result. We’ll take the lessons from this loss and use them to grow. Our coach will surely give us a firm talk over the next two weeks to ensure we’re at our best for the final.“
