A high-ranking Moroccan military delegation, led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, concluded a working visit to Mauritania on Tuesday. The delegation was received by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott, with the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, as confirmed by a statement from the General Staff of the FAR.
During the same day, General Berrid visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he engaged in discussions with Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. In a symbolic gesture, the Mauritanian President awarded General Berrid the National Order of Merit (Commander grade) on behalf of the Republic.
The visit also included a joint session of the 6th Joint Military Commission, co-chaired by General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff. Both sides highlighted the remarkable progress in bilateral military cooperation, describing it as a model of strategic partnership and commending the tangible results achieved through this fruitful collaboration.
