General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, concluded a high-level working visit to Mauritania this week. On Tuesday, he was received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott, with Moroccan Ambassador to Mauritania Hamid Chabar in attendance.
Later that same day, General Berrid held discussions with Mauritanian Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. Following their meeting, the Mauritanian President awarded the Moroccan military leader the National Order of Merit (Commander grade) in recognition of his contributions to bilateral defense cooperation.
The visit continued with co-chairing duties as General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff led the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Both sides highlighted the strong track record of military collaboration between their nations, describing it as a strategic partnership model that delivers tangible results.
