Following the heated conclusion of the Morocco-Canada match at the 2026 World Cup in Aubervilliers, France, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco has taken decisive action by filing a formal complaint with French authorities.
In an official statement released on July 6, the Embassy condemned the deliberate desecration of the Moroccan flag and the verbal assaults directed at Moroccan supporters. The statement described the acts as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” emphasizing their gravity and the violation of diplomatic norms.
According to the Embassy’s account, verified footage and witness testimonies confirmed that the national flag was torn from its pole, set ablaze, and shredded in public view. Additional reports indicated that the perpetrators chanted slogans linked to Algeria, further escalating tensions.
