Ousmane sonko voices concerns over governance in sadio, Senegal

Ousmane Sonko, the esteemed leader of PASTEF-Les Patriotes, delivered a notable address this Sunday in Sadio, situated within the Diourbel region, where he articulated significant criticisms regarding the current administration’s trajectory.

Addressing his dedicated supporters, the head of PASTEF recounted the sequence of events that culminated in Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s election to the presidency in March 2024, emphasizing his personal role in endorsing Faye’s candidacy after his own was invalidated.

« We propelled him to the highest office, and he has since diverged from the original project, thereby imperiling the people’s aspirations, which have now dissipated, » declared Ousmane Sonko.

The Prime Minister expressed his assessment that the political blueprint presented to the Senegalese populace has progressively strayed from its initial path, referring to a « lost hope » and calling for a reaffirmation of the commitments made to citizens.

Ousmane Sonko also underscored his instrumental involvement in the political struggle that led to the change of government in 2024, asserting that a substantial portion of this transformative process was spearheaded under his impetus.

Looking ahead to future electoral contests, he referenced the upcoming milestones of 2026 and 2029, which he views as crucial junctures for the continued implementation of PASTEF’s political agenda.

These statements emerge amidst ongoing questions surrounding the relationship between the President of the Republic and his Prime Minister, although no official response from the presidency has been recorded at this point.
