Paris prosecutors are stepping up security measures ahead of this weekend’s high-stakes Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal. On Friday, officials announced plans to deploy an “enhanced emergency response system capable of handling mass gatherings” during the Budapest showdown.

Up to seven magistrates from the Paris public prosecutor’s office will be on standby—both for adult and juvenile cases—supplementing existing specialized units. “Juvenile court procedures have been adjusted in coordination with neighboring jurisdictions to ensure swift action for minors outside Paris,” prosecutors explained in an official statement. This coordination aims to “streamline responses and reduce delays” in addressing any incidents involving young offenders.

With violent disturbances anticipated by law enforcement and police authorities, the Paris prosecutor emphasized a proactive approach: “defendants will be brought before judges as early as Saturday, even before major gatherings take place.” Additionally, “formal investigations may be launched if further evidence gathering is needed beyond initial custody periods.” Authorities also warned that “serious offenses reported after the fact—not intercepted during active incidents—will face thorough scrutiny for potential prosecutions.”
