Rabat hosts the Morocco-india economic forum 2026, fostering strategic partnerships

The Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026 recently convened in Rabat, marking a significant step in bilateral relations. This pivotal event was orchestrated by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK), in close collaboration with the Embassy of India to the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Expanding economic horizons

The high-level gathering brought together an influential Indian delegation comprising 21 prominent business leaders representing strategic sectors, alongside key Moroccan economic stakeholders. Their collective objective was to explore avenues for establishing enduring partnerships and fostering mutually beneficial investments between the two nations.

During the forum, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, underscored the profound historical friendship that has blossomed into a robust, diversified, and continuously expanding economic partnership. In an address delivered on his behalf, Sakhi highlighted how high-level ministerial initiatives and the various memoranda of understanding (MOUs) signed across strategic domains vividly reflect the dynamic political ties binding Morocco and India.

He further noted that the presence of an Indian business delegation, with leaders from diverse sectors such as automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, signals a growing interest from Indian investors in the Moroccan market. This sustained engagement is particularly evident in the increasing volume of bilateral economic exchanges, a dynamic Morocco is keen to bolster, recognizing India as a crucial trade partner possessing extensive technological and industrial expertise.

Forging india-Morocco-africa connections

Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, articulated his belief in the two countries’ capacity to forge a powerful partnership encompassing India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. He emphasized Morocco’s substantial potential and capabilities, particularly commending the numerous opportunities available in renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. Puri highlighted Morocco’s role as an ideal platform for businesses from both nations to implement joint projects and advance technological development.

The forum’s proceedings featured an institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment prospects within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees also viewed a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter.

A significant outcome of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding, specifically designed to enhance commercial exchanges, boost investments, and strengthen industrial partnerships between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. The forum concluded with a productive networking session, facilitating direct B2B meetings between representatives of both delegations.
