The League of Scholars, Preachers and Imams of the Sahel (LOPIS), in partnership with the Fusion and Liaison Unit (UNFL), held a training workshop on Friday in Niamey, Niger. The session brought together senior officials from Niger’s religious affairs administration to address the theme “Building Intellectual Immunity and Deconstructing Radicalised Discourse.”
According to a statement from LOPIS, the initiative aims to equip religious cadres with the tools to recognise and counter extremist narratives, reinforcing critical thinking within faith-based institutions. The workshop focused on identifying the roots of radicalisation and developing strategies to promote moderate, balanced interpretations of religious teachings.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions and case studies designed to strengthen their capacity to foster resilience against extremist ideologies within their communities. The collaboration between LOPIS and UNFL underscores a regional commitment to preventing violent extremism through education and dialogue in the Sahel.
