Guarding against misconduct: the stakes of PSEA

Security personnel on the ground are far more than simple guards; they represent the first point of contact for the public, partners, and vulnerable staff. In this context, the United Nations enforces a zero-tolerance policy regarding potential risks.

The core of this two-day intensive program focused on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Sessions alternated between case study analyses and legal reminders to equip these professionals around four key pillars:

  • Mastering fundamental rules: understanding the strict United Nations ethical framework governing every workplace interaction.
  • Adopting best practices: translating theoretical concepts into flawless daily professional reflexes and attitudes.
  • Identifying prohibited behaviors: rigorously and unambiguously recognizing warning signs and misconduct such as harassment, abuse of power, and discrimination.
  • Knowing reporting channels: understanding and using internal mechanisms for reporting violations, while ensuring anonymity and victim protection.

Respecting the rights and dignity of all, especially the most vulnerable in the workplace, is not an option. It concerns everyone, starting with those who protect our spaces.
