Burkina Faso and Italy honor 80 years of Italian Republic with stronger ties

The unyielding bond between Burkina Faso and Italy shone brightly during the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Italian Republic. The Italian Embassy in Ouagadougou hosted an evening event on June 2, 2026, bringing together Burkinabè officials, foreign diplomats, and Italian nationals to mark this significant milestone.

A key representative of Burkina Faso’s government, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Bêbgnasgnan Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré, attended the gathering, which was filled with moments of reflection, camaraderie, and celebration of the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations.

Italian Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Gabriele Di Muzio, highlighted the strength of bilateral cooperation, particularly through initiatives led by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. He underscored Italy’s commitment to supporting Burkina Faso in stabilization efforts, humanitarian aid, and socioeconomic development.

« Our mission here is rooted in serving the Burkinabè people. We stand by a lasting partnership built on shared values and mutual respect », he stated, reaffirming Italy’s dedication to the nation’s progress.

On behalf of Burkina Faso’s leadership, Deputy Minister Kabré/Kaboré conveyed the President’s and the people’s congratulations to the Italian community. She praised the vibrant cooperation grounded in solidarity, mutual trust, and a shared vision for development.

She also spotlighted the vast investment opportunities available in Burkina Faso’s strategic sectors, urging Italian business operators to seize the incentives offered by the Burkinabè government. « Our doors are open for deeper economic exchanges and partnerships that benefit both our nations », she emphasized.
