The Collectif des descendants de Serigne Touba has taken legal action against political figure Ousmane Sonko, citing the spread of false information and defamation as grounds for the lawsuit.
The plaintiffs are represented by lawyer Me Aboubacry Barro, as confirmed by Babacar Malick, who shared the development on the social platform X.
allegations and legal basis
The complaint stems from remarks reportedly made by Ousmane Sonko, in which he alleged that:
- financial resources have recently been directed toward Touba,
- such funds are public money that has been stolen from the nation,
- the allocation of these resources is not intended for legitimate purposes but rather serves political motives.
The collective asserts that these statements constitute a deliberate attempt to tarnish their reputation and undermine their standing within the community.
