Abidjan, 13 July 2026 – Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, a prominent figure and former contender in the October 2025 presidential election, alongside his core strategists, has announced a significant step in their political journey: the initiation of a process to establish a new political party. This pivotal decision emerged from a plenary assembly held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Abidjan.
During the gathering, which brought together sympathizers and members of Mr. Don-Mello’s presidential campaign organizing committee, participants overwhelmingly adopted a resolution to form a new political entity.
This move follows the comprehensive conclusions presented by a dedicated reflection commission. The commission, established to explore the organizational future of the movement, recommended the creation of a formal political party to provide structure and ensure the long-term viability of the initiatives spearheaded by the former presidential candidate.
Consequently, the assembly conferred upon Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello the mandate to guide the formation of this new political force. He is also tasked with organizing the “Congrès des Pionniers,” an event poised to be the foundational act of the nascent party.
This initiative marks a profound transformation, evolving the former candidate’s campaign team into a structured political organization. The future party aims to position itself as a dynamic force for progressive proposals, national unity, and political alternation. Its core tenets will encompass values such as democracy, social justice, robust governance, solidarity, meritocracy, and the unwavering defense of national sovereignty.
Following the assembly’s proceedings, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello extended his gratitude to the attendees for their trust, subsequently outlining the overarching vision of the political project. He also issued a fervent appeal to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereignist forces to join this endeavor, with the ultimate goal of building a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, more prosperous, more united, and fully sovereign.”
“Preparatory work for the Congrès des Pionniers will commence immediately, and the date for this crucial gathering will be announced as soon as possible,” it was confirmed.
Notably, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello had previously served as vice-president of the Parti des peuples africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI) before his removal. He subsequently ran as an independent candidate in the October 2025 presidential election.
