Gabon is set to revolutionize its digital landscape with the launch of Kimba Connect 2026, a groundbreaking national open innovation challenge spearheaded by the Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation in partnership with the Federation of Gabonese Enterprises (FEG). Unveiled at the headquarters of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in Libreville, this ambitious initiative aims to bridge the gap between traditional businesses facing digital transformation challenges and local startups brimming with innovative solutions.
The program operates as a challenge-based platform, inviting enterprises to submit their most pressing digital hurdles. In response, Gabonese startups will propose tailored digital solutions, with the most promising projects receiving mentorship and support to accelerate their development and implementation.
Interested participants must submit their applications by midnight on July 14, 2025. The selection process will culminate in a pre-selection phase on July 24, followed by the grand finale scheduled for August 4, 2026.
Mark Alexandre Doumba, Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, emphasized the program’s core philosophy: “True innovation solves real problems.” He highlighted how Kimba Connect 2026 will convert corporate challenges into avenues for growth while providing startups with enhanced market access and visibility.
The initiative’s broader objectives include fostering open innovation, strengthening ties between established businesses and startups, accelerating the country’s digital transformation, showcasing local talent, and boosting economic competitiveness. By creating a collaborative ecosystem, the government aims to nurture homegrown digital solutions that address Gabon’s modernization needs.
This program aligns with Gabon’s national strategy to fast-track digital adoption and spur local innovation. By fostering partnerships between the private sector and startups, authorities seek to enhance business competitiveness, empower innovative entrepreneurship, and diversify the national economy.
