Gabon’s RPM party praises Oligui Nguema and calls for concrete action

The Rally for Homeland and Modernity (RPM), a political party within Gabon’s presidential majority, has officially commended President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Through a statement issued by party spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the group praised the head of state’s intense efforts and dedication to national development throughout the month of August.

A positive assessment of recent state actions

In their declaration, the political organization highlighted the executive’s hands-on approach and commitment to provincial growth, expressing strong support for the newly introduced healthcare initiatives.

A major point of appreciation is the 55 billion CFA francs funding package announced in Makokou. This financial injection allocates 44 billion CFA francs to upgrade national medical equipment, 6 billion CFA francs to restore catering services in hospitals, and 5 billion CFA francs to bolster the National Health Insurance and Social Guarantee Fund (CNAMGS). The RPM emphasizes that these measures address critical public needs and must be executed without delay.

Focus on healthcare funding and infrastructure

Beyond medical funding, the party pointed to several newly commissioned facilities in Grand Libreville, spanning the administrative, commercial, military, and healthcare sectors. Additionally, 17 structural initiatives have been launched in the Ogooué-Ivindo province. The RPM also lauded the housing program in Mayiga, which has already delivered 50 residential units with 25 more underway, aiming for a total of 500 developed plots to decentralize growth away from the capital.

Transitioning from promises to concrete evidence

Reflecting on the nation’s 66th independence anniversary and the third anniversary of the transition coup, the RPM echoed a key phrase from the head of state: “The era of promises must give way to the era of proof.” The party fully embraces this standard, asserting that the ultimate test of any government action is its direct, positive impact on the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.

The statement also welcomed the official visit of Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.

Looking ahead, the political party urges the administration to maintain this momentum, focusing on project completion, long-term infrastructure maintenance, and youth employment. The RPM reaffirmed its loyal and responsible commitment to supporting initiatives that foster national unity and modernization.

Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who currently serves as the Vice President of the Republic, the RPM joined the ruling coalition behind Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for the presidential election of April 12, 2025. While maintaining its political independence, the party holds three seats in the National Assembly.
