High-level talks in Niamey as AES marks third anniversary

Niamey, July 27, 2026 — High-level consultations among leaders of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) continue alongside events marking the third anniversary of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) taking power. Today, the Minister of State for Interior, Public Security and Territorial Administration, Major General Mohamed Toumba, received Bassolma Bazié, President of Burkina Faso’s AES Confederation National Commission.

The Burkinabè official, visiting Niger for the commemorative activities, paid a courtesy call at the Ministry of Interior. The meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to discuss pressing issues facing AES member states.

During the discussions, Bassolma Bazié commended Niger’s authorities for their security initiatives, particularly efforts to protect civilians and bolster stability both domestically and across the confederation’s territory.
