Strategic talks in Rabat to enhance aviation links
The Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, held a high-level meeting this Tuesday in Rabat with Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, who leads Kuwait‘s Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The primary objective of these discussions was to bolster technical coordination between the two nations regarding air navigation services.
Organized during the 29th general assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization hosted in Morocco, the dialogue centered on improving safety protocols and security measures within the aviation sector. Both officials explored various avenues to deepen bilateral ties through shared expertise and infrastructure development.
Reviving the Kuwait-Casablanca flight route
During the exchange, the long-standing historical bond between the two kingdoms was highlighted as a foundation for future growth. A major point of discussion involved the resumption of direct flights connecting Kuwait and Casablanca. Royal Air Maroc is currently preparing to relaunch this strategic route as soon as its latest fleet of long-haul aircraft is delivered and operational.
Preparing for the 2030 World Cup
Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah emphasized the necessity of increasing flight frequencies between Kuwait and Morocco to accommodate the anticipated surge in travel demand. This expansion is particularly relevant in the lead-up to the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal. The goal is to facilitate seamless travel for tourists from the Gulf region and beyond during this global sporting event.
The assembly concluded with the election of new leadership for the 2026-2028 term. Khalid Cherkaoui was officially appointed as the new Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, alongside the selection of members for the executive council and technical committees.
