Abidjan, July 5, 2026 – A fresh political entity, Alternative crédible (ACR), introduced itself to the media on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a press conference held in Grand-Bassam. The movement aims to present a new political offering for Côte d’Ivoire.
Oxyde Tano, the National Executive Secretary of ACR and the primary speaker at the event, articulated the core principles, aspirations, and strategic vision of this nascent political force. ACR positions itself as a direct response to the pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges currently facing the nation.
Tano elaborated that the initiative first took root on December 1, 2025, born from the collective will of women, men, and young individuals from diverse backgrounds. These founders are united by a shared determination to introduce an innovative approach to politics within Côte d’Ivoire.
According to Tano, the establishment of ACR stems from a widely recognized observation: despite its considerable human and natural wealth, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous difficulties. These include the escalating cost of living, rampant youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and deep-seated social divisions.
Identifying as a left-wing political movement, ACR firmly places human well-being at the core of its mission. Its overarching vision is to forge a Côte d’Ivoire that is “just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, united, and steadfastly respectful of the rule of law.”
Operating under the slogan, “Tomorrow is decided today,” ACR is committed to fostering a system of governance rooted in transparency, constructive dialogue, and an unwavering pursuit of the general interest. The movement ultimately aspires to galvanize the nation’s vital forces around a credible political project, contributing significantly to the development of a more efficient state, a truly inclusive economy, and a fundamentally more equitable society.
ACR’s leadership outlined the primary pillars of their political agenda. These include creating employment and fostering entrepreneurship for young people, enhancing the educational system, ensuring access to quality healthcare, modernizing the agricultural sector, guaranteeing the safety of citizens and their property, promoting the empowerment of women, actively combating the high cost of living, stimulating robust economic development, protecting the environment, and reinforcing national unity.
Oxyde Tano affirmed ACR’s openness to dialogue with all political and social stakeholders who share its fundamental values of peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He emphasized that particular attention would be directed towards youth, women, workers, economic operators, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.
The National Executive Secretary also announced that the movement’s official launch event is scheduled for August in Cocody. During this significant occasion, ACR’s President, Bamba Abou, will formally present the political vision and the key strategic orientations of the movement’s program.
Leading up to this ceremony, a series of awareness tours, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordination bodies, and national mobilization and membership campaigns are planned across the entire Ivorian territory.
“The time has come to turn a new page in our history,” concluded Oxyde Tano, reiterating ACR’s profound ambition to contribute to building a Côte d’Ivoire that is “juster, stronger, and more prosperous.”
