Stuttgart secures champions league spot with draw against frankfurt

Stuttgart clinches Champions League qualification after hard-fought draw in Frankfurt

Stuttgart secured the final German berth for next season’s Champions League on Saturday afternoon after playing out a 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga action. The Swabians finished fourth in the league table, joining Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig in Europe’s premier club competition.

The match was a tense affair from the outset, with Stuttgart breaking the deadlock early through Chema Andrès (10’) before Nikolas Nartey doubled their lead just before halftime (45’+4’). However, Eintracht Frankfurt fought back in the second half, converting two second-half penalties by Jonathan Burkhardt to force the draw.

With 62 points, Stuttgart edged out Hoffenheim (61 points) and Bayer Leverkusen (59 points), who were held to draws at Mönchengladbach and Hamburg respectively. This marks the club’s seventh qualification for the UEFA Champions League, including participation in the historic European Cup era.

Relegation drama unfolds in Bundesliga finale

At the bottom of the table, Heidenheim suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mainz, while St. Pauli lost 3-1 to Wolfsburg at home. With 29 points each, both teams will drop down to the 2. Bundesliga next season. Wolfsburg, currently 16th, will face a relegation playoff against the third-placed team from the second tier—either Elversberg, Hannover 96, or Arminia Bielefeld.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich capped off a dominant season with a 5-1 thrashing of Cologne, finishing with an astonishing 122 goals across all competitions. Harry Kane continued his prolific form, netting a hat-trick (10’, 13’, 69’) to bring his tally to 36 league goals and 59 in total.

The Bavarians secured their 35th Bundesliga title earlier in the campaign, leaving little doubt over their status as Germany’s most successful club.
