An intense and direct information conflict has erupted between France and Russia throughout the African continent. This particular aspect of hybrid warfare, spearheaded by Moscow subsequent to its 2018 military engagement in the Central African Republic, serves Russia’s objective of weakening and ultimately expelling Paris from its long-standing African spheres of influence. This is achieved by leveraging and manipulating public opinion.
After a delayed realization of this intricate strategy, which Russian forces have employed in various other operational zones since at least 2014, Paris is now endeavoring to counter these moves effectively.
