Togolese diplomacy has achieved another significant success. Through a focused mediation effort led by President Faure Gnassingbé, twenty-two Malian military personnel, previously held captive by Touareg rebels of the Front de Libération de l’Azawad (FLA), regained their freedom on Sunday, August 23. These soldiers had endured several months of detention in northern Mali.
