The United States and Benin have significantly bolstered their strategic defense partnership. At the Pentagon, General Christopher J. Mahoney, Vice Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, engaged in crucial discussions with Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of Staff of the Beninese Armed Forces.

Central to their talks were joint security initiatives and the military assistance provided by Washington, notably facilitated through the United States Africa Command (Africom).

Both high-ranking officials underscored the pivotal role of a stable, secure, and democratic Benin in fostering overall regional peace. They pledged to intensify their military collaboration and work closely with regional partners to effectively counter transnational threats and ensure enduring stability across the area.
