World vision Tchad unveils bold 2030 strategy for child welfare

World Vision Tchad has rolled out its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy, aiming to transform the lives of 3.29 million children—including 3.09 million from the most vulnerable communities—by 2030. This integrated plan merges humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding initiatives to create lasting impact across Chad.

Comprehensive approach targets child survival and thriving

The strategy was unveiled during a high-level press conference in N’Djamena, gathering media outlets, government officials, and development partners. The initiative reflects a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, signaling World Vision Tchad’s commitment to scaling up its interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.

Humanitarian-development-peace nexus drives progress

Speaking at the event, Carla Dominique Denizard, West Africa Regional Director of World Vision, emphasized the organization’s “bold and innovative” approach. She highlighted the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus as the cornerstone of the strategy, ensuring seamless transitions from emergency relief to long-term developmental outcomes. “Every child in Chad deserves not just to survive, but to thrive,” she stated, underscoring the need for strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural integration in program design.

Denizard also linked the strategy to broader continental and global agendas, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Key priorities include human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, and the Unlock Literacy initiative to improve early childhood reading skills.

National director outlines urgent priorities

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, Country Director of World Vision Tchad, described the strategy launch as a “historic milestone” for both the organization and the nation’s children. He noted that nearly 42% of Chad’s population lives below the poverty line, exacerbating vulnerabilities to malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate shocks. “Our goal is clear: ensure that every child in Chad has the chance to not only survive, but to flourish,” he declared.

The 2026-2030 roadmap prioritizes integrated nutrition and health services—with a strong focus on maternal and child health—alongside educational reform through Unlock Literacy, comprehensive child protection measures, and community resilience-building against climate change impacts.

A call for unified action

In concluding the presentation, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued an urgent appeal to national stakeholders. They called on public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and the media to collaborate closely. Collective mobilization, they stressed, is essential to turning current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children. By aligning with Vision 2030 and the SDGs, the strategy aims to build a future where every child is safe, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
