65 years of Morocco-Vietnam ties celebrated in Rabat with cultural and diplomatic events

The 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Vietnam was marked with a special celebration held in Rabat on Friday. The event, organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Morocco in collaboration with the High Commission for Former Resistance Fighters and Veterans of the Liberation Army, brought together officials, historians, and cultural figures to honor this historic milestone.

Cultural and historical exhibitions take center stage

A key highlight of the day was the unveiling of a thematic exhibition titled “President Hô Chi Minh — A Symbol of Peace and International Friendship”. Running until June 26, the exhibition traces the life and legacy of Vietnam’s national liberation hero, whose vision was rooted in peace, independence, and cross-border cooperation. The display features photographs, documents, and artifacts that illustrate his enduring influence on Vietnam’s struggle for sovereignty and its diplomatic engagements.

The event also featured the inauguration of the Hô Chi Minh Library, a collection of French, English, and Arabic publications donated by the Hô Chi Minh Memorial Site under Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The library serves as a resource hub for researchers and the public, fostering deeper understanding of Vietnamese history and culture in Morocco.

Strengthening bilateral cooperation through dialogue

Beyond cultural exchanges, the celebration included a high-level seminar focused on enhancing Morocco-Vietnam collaboration across multiple sectors. Discussions centered on diplomatic initiatives, trade expansion, academic partnerships, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties. The event provided a platform for both nations to explore new avenues for joint projects and shared growth.

Voices of leadership echo shared values

In his opening address, Mustapha El Ktiri, High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Veterans of the Liberation Army, emphasized the deep historical and strategic significance of the Morocco-Vietnam relationship. He described the celebration as a testament to the alignment of two nations whose histories, forged in struggle, converge around shared ideals of freedom and solidarity. El Ktiri, who also serves as President of the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association, highlighted the symbolic connection between two landmark gates: the Vietnam Gate in Kénitra and the Morocco Gate in Bà Vi, twin monuments symbolizing enduring bonds between the two countries.

Addressing the gathering, Le Kim Quy, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Morocco, celebrated the steady progress in bilateral relations. She pointed to the increasing frequency of high-level visits and diplomatic engagements in recent years, reflecting the mutual trust and shared commitment to deepening their strategic partnership. The ambassador also noted the impressive growth in economic exchanges, with bilateral trade reaching $390 million in 2025. She highlighted how this momentum is extending into education, cultural exchanges, and decentralized cooperation between local governments in both countries.

The day’s events underscored not only the historical depth of Morocco-Vietnam relations but also the vibrant future of collaboration between the two nations in diplomacy, economy, and culture.
