Crackdown on fraudulent job recruitment ring exploiting Cameroonian youth
A sophisticated human trafficking network lured young Cameroonians with promises of lucrative overseas employment before their arrest by national security forces.
Operation exposes elaborate web of deception targeting job seekers
Thirteen individuals suspected of operating a human trafficking syndicate disguised as multi-level marketing companies have been paraded before media at the National Gendarmerie headquarters in Yaoundé. The suspects, connected to entities operating under names including QNET, IGNITE, and UNIMEC, allegedly targeted students, unemployed graduates, and job seekers with false promises of high-paying employment abroad.
Two suspected ringleaders, believed to be operating from neighboring Congo and the Central African Republic, remain at large as investigations continue across multiple Cameroonian cities. The suspects will face prosecution under relevant national laws addressing human trafficking and employment fraud.
The operation, led by the National Gendarmerie’s Central Coordination Directorate under Director Adjoint Atangana Fiacre Kisito, highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks exploiting vulnerable populations through deceptive recruitment practices.
