Gabon political movements urge unity after national tour

The Parti des 7 Merveilles du Peuple Gabonais (7MP) and the Mouvement Oligui Nguema 100% (MON 100%) shared the outcomes of their national tour conducted from June 4 to 25, 2026, across all nine provinces of Gabon during a press conference held on Friday at the Cité Damas. Leaders of both organizations highlighted key findings and outlined future directions.

The delegation, led by Joël Ngoueneni Ndzengouma, founding president of 7MP and president of MON 100%, engaged with citizens, activists, and local officials. The goal was to gather the concerns of the people and assess the social and political situation following the 2025 presidential election.

According to Joël Ngoueneni Ndzengouma, the tour also aimed to strengthen the internal organization of both movements. “Since June 4, 2026, the 7MP and the MON 100% movement have joined forces to continue the momentum that began on February 8, 2025,” he stated.

During each stop, discussions centered on several issues raised by communities, including youth employment, access to clean water, road conditions, healthcare, education, and the cost of living. “We traveled to meet our fellow citizens, to listen to them and to evaluate the realities on the ground,” Joël Ngoueneni Ndzengouma explained.

The leaders also announced the reorganization of their provincial coordination teams, updates to membership files, and the enrollment of new supporters. “This mission enabled us to identify new local leaders, consolidate the MON 100% presence in all nine provinces, and collect 1,000 membership forms,” the movement’s president noted.

Several political figures attended the press conference, including Angélique Ngoma, secretary general of the Parti Démocratique Gabonais (PDG), and Gervais Oniane, president of the Union pour la République (UPR).

Taking the floor, Gervais Oniane urged political parties to prioritize dialogue and consultation. “It is important that political parties work together in a spirit of unity and responsibility to support the country’s major transformations,” he said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, officials from 7MP and MON 100% proposed the creation of a consultation platform bringing together political parties that back the actions of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. They believe such a forum could improve coordination among the various political formations.
