GABON CITY, July 28 (Jeune Afrique) – The Gabonese government is struggling to diversify the country’s energy mix amid growing concerns over the dominance of Karpowership in the sector.
The state-owned company, which has a significant stake in the country’s power grid, is accused by critics of prioritizing low-cost electricity over sustainable development and environmental protection.
The situation has sparked tensions between the government and opposition parties, with some calling for greater transparency in the energy sector and others demanding stricter regulations on foreign companies operating in Gabon.
