Morocco and France launch strategic talks in Rabat
Rabat is hosting the fifteenth session of Morocco’s high-level meeting with France today. Under the banner of their “exceptional strengthened partnership,” delegations led by King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron are convening to advance bilateral cooperation.
French Ambassador Philippe Lalliot highlighted the depth of collaboration during a discussion in Rabat, noting that tangible progress is being made across key sectors in cities like Casablanca, Tanger, Marrakech and Laâyoune. “From Rabat to Laâyoune, our shared work isn’t just about talking about the future—it’s about building it, day by day,” Lalliot remarked, standing beside Moroccan Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports Mohamed Saad Berrada.
The ambassador also referenced President Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, in which France formally acknowledged that “the future of the Sahara is tied to Morocco’s sovereignty.”
Emphasizing France’s role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, Lalliot pointed to decades of French corporate involvement that has shaped Morocco’s industrial growth. He underscored that nearly fifteen years of partnership have solidified economic ties between the two nations.
Looking ahead, both sides are prioritizing three shared objectives: tackling global challenges and bolstering security, driving innovation in tomorrow’s key industries, and fostering deeper people-to-people connections—especially among the youth who represent the future of Morocco-France relations.
