Morocco joins international Gaza stabilization force with major military contribution
Rabat — On Wednesday, Morocco formalized its commitment to global peace efforts by signing the framework agreement for its participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. The signing ceremony took place in Rabat under the direct supervision of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Chairman of the Al Qods Committee.
The agreement was signed during a high-level meeting chaired by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Defense Administration Minister Abdeltif Loudyi, in the presence of top military officials. The Moroccan delegation was led by a senior representative of the Gaza Peace Council, underscoring the Kingdom’s proactive role in regional stability initiatives.
Humanitarian and security mission in Gaza
According to a statement from the National Defense Administration, this agreement solidifies Morocco’s position as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, aligning with the Royal directives announced during the council’s inaugural meeting in Washington. The Moroccan authorities emphasized the Kingdom’s unwavering dedication to international peace, cooperation, and solidarity, highlighting the FAR’s extensive experience in UN-led peacekeeping operations and Morocco’s long-standing commitment to regional and global stability.
The Gaza Peace Council officials praised Morocco’s substantial contribution, which includes:
- Deploying senior FAR officers to the ISF joint command;
- Providing personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the National Security Directorate;
- Establishing a field military hospital.
The signed accord outlines the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s involvement, reflecting a shared determination to restore peace and security in Gaza through concrete humanitarian and security measures.
