The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a vibrant reception in Rabat on July 14th to mark France’s National Day, drawing over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot emphasized the deepening bilateral cooperation and its forward-looking vision during the event.
«Across cities like Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—we are not just discussing the future; we are actively building it, day by day,» Lalliot remarked. The gathering included Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, who represented the government at the ceremony.
The ambassador underscored the extensive scope of Morocco-France collaboration, referencing a key letter from President Emmanuel Macron to King Mohammed VI in July 2024. In the correspondence, France reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, aligning with international principles and multilateral frameworks. «French and Moroccan diplomacy continue to champion the core values that underpin global governance,» Lalliot stated.
Highlighting France’s economic footprint, he noted, «France remains Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in shaping Morocco’s industrial growth for over a decade.» Looking ahead, the ambassador outlined three strategic priorities: addressing global challenges through joint solutions, strengthening economic sectors that will drive future prosperity, and fostering deeper societal ties—particularly among the youth who represent the future of Morocco-France relations.
Lalliot also celebrated «the enduring human connection between the French and Moroccan peoples,» which thrives through the contributions of vibrant diaspora communities.
