On June 16, Chad’s top official in oil sector regulation, Hassan Adoum Younousmi, Director-General of the ARSAT, met with Algeria’s Minister of State for Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, at the Algerian Ministry headquarters. The meeting brought together key advisors from both sides to discuss critical energy collaboration.
This high-level dialogue reflects the ongoing efforts to strengthen Chad-Algeria bilateral ties, particularly in implementing recent joint agreements. The talks focused on pivotal aspects of the downstream oil sector, including regulatory frameworks, energy infrastructure development, refining capabilities, storage solutions, and fuel distribution networks.
The discussions also highlighted industrial safety standards, digital transformation of sector processes, and governance reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency in hydrocarbon management.
ARSAT and Algeria’s hydrocarbon regulator, ARH, had previously formalized their cooperation through a protocol signed on April 23, 2026. This agreement underscores mutual technical and institutional support, fostering knowledge exchange, best practices, and capacity-building initiatives to empower local expertise.
Following the productive exchange, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to deepening fraternal relations and advancing shared development goals in Africa. Hassan Adoum Younousmi emphasized ARSAT’s dedication to collaborating with Algerian partners to elevate Chad’s downstream oil industry and nurture homegrown talent.
