Strategic appointment ahead of 2027 polls

The Social Democratic Front (SDF), Cameroon’s main opposition party, has taken a decisive step to strengthen its electoral preparedness by appointing Louis Marie Kakdeu as director of its newly created National Election Preparation Commission. The announcement was made by party president Joshua Osih on June 13, 2026, during a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee in Bamenda.

With municipal and legislative elections scheduled for 2027, the SDF is leaving nothing to chance. His appointment follows his successful tenure as director of Joshua Osih’s 2025 presidential campaign, further solidifying his reputation as a trusted strategist within the party.

Kakdeu’s mandate includes identifying and recruiting strong candidates in underserved constituencies, revitalizing the party’s grassroots presence in its traditional strongholds, and ensuring robust oversight through increased poll observer deployment.
