Cameroun: lawyers champion state of law at Founders Museum launch

Lawyers from Cameroon highlight democratic values at Founders Museum event in Yaoundé

The Cameroon Bar Association made a significant contribution to the launch of the Founders Museum in Yaoundé, an exhibition organized by the U.S. Embassy to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American Independence. Led by senior members of the Order, including Secretary General Me Serges Martin Zangue, Treasurer Me Adeline Fouegoum, and regional representative Me Philippe Memong, the delegation underscored the importance of legal expertise in upholding democratic principles.

The highlight of the event was a panel discussion on democracy, governance, and the rule of law, featuring scholars, historians, and institutional leaders. Speaking on behalf of the Bar Association, Me Zangue emphasized the critical role of lawyers in safeguarding fundamental freedoms, advancing justice, and strengthening institutions. He also highlighted the long-standing contributions of Cameroon’s legal professionals to the consolidation of the rule of law over the decades.

Beyond academic exchanges, the event fostered dialogue on leadership, institutional excellence, and governance challenges. Participants explored shared values in a context where sustainable mechanisms for democratic strengthening are urgently needed.

The Cameroon Bar Association praised the initiative by the U.S. Embassy and reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation. Both institutions are now exploring new projects focused on legal training, capacity building, and the promotion of the rule of law, marking a fresh chapter in their partnership.
