Chad and Madagascar strengthen bilateral ties

Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, Madagascar’s head of state, recently journeyed to N’Djamena, Chad, with a primary focus on bolstering bilateral relations and engaging the Malagasy diaspora. During his visit, a significant meeting took place with approximately twenty Malagasy nationals residing in Chad. The President of the Refoundation underscored the vital role of this community, stating, “The diaspora represents a powerful asset for Madagascar; its expertise must be further recognized and utilized.”

Beyond these crucial discussions, the visit also sought to invigorate economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. Emphasizing the free flow of expertise and shared experiences, these elements were highlighted as critical drivers for enhancing Madagascar’s influence and presence across the African continent.

A key highlight of the itinerary was participation in Chad’s 66th independence anniversary celebrations, held yesterday in N’Djamena. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina attended at the invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, the President of Chad, and was joined by General Horta N’Tam, President of Guinea-Bissau. The President of the Refoundation characterized this gathering as a prime opportunity to “fortify intra-African cooperation,” further revealing that the Chadian President has expressed readiness to visit Madagascar to discuss and pinpoint potential areas for future collaboration between the two nations.
