N’Djamena prosecutor opens inquiry into possible exploitation

After a video circulated on social media showing five minors dressed in military uniforms and making critical remarks about the head of state and state institutions, the N’Djamena prosecutor’s office provided an update on the case.

The five minors were questioned by judicial police in the presence of their parents, in line with juvenile justice rules. The prosecutor’s office stressed that the investigation is ongoing and that the evidence gathered must be examined objectively, respecting the presumption of innocence and due process.

Protection of minors and accountability: a difficult balance

While recalling that minors require special protection, the judicial authority insisted this does not rule out potential responsibility, seeking a balance between education, rehabilitation, and maintaining public order.

The media and social media users were also urged to protect the anonymity and dignity of the minors by refraining from sharing content that could identify them.
