Chelsea lands England star Rogers in £117m Premier League transfer

Chelsea Football Club has completed the signing of English international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, marking a significant coup for the Blues as they gear up for the upcoming season. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has put pen to paper on a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge, tying him to the club until 2033.

The young talent arrives at Chelsea with an impressive track record, having showcased his offensive prowess during his time at Aston Villa. Rogers contributed directly to 40 goals in 85 Premier League appearances, helping the Villans secure a fourth-place finish in the league before clinching the Europa League title last season.

His international credentials have also been on display, with Rogers earning 22 caps for England since his debut in November 2024. He played a pivotal role in the Three Lions’ campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they finished third, further solidifying his reputation as one of English football’s brightest prospects.

A record-breaking transfer deal

According to official reports, Chelsea parted with a fee of £117 million (approximately €138 million) to secure Rogers’ services. This makes his transfer the second-most expensive in Premier League history, trailing only Alexander Isak’s move from Newcastle to Liverpool for £125 million last summer.

The Blues moved swiftly to fend off competition from Arsenal, who had emerged as early frontrunners in the race for Rogers’ signature. Chelsea’s announcement came with a social media post featuring the player, accompanied by the caption ‘He chose Chelsea’, a clear nod to the fierce competition that unfolded behind the scenes.

The addition of Rogers adds depth and creativity to a Chelsea squad already brimming with talent as they look to challenge for domestic and European honours in the new campaign.
