Elliot anderson breaks premier league transfer record with manchester city move

Manchester City have agreed a record-breaking deal to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £120 million, with potential add-ons taking the total to £130 million. The Etihad club has accepted Forest’s asking price, and an agreement is already in place with the player himself, leaving only final details to be sorted before the transfer is officially completed.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement between the two clubs, stating: “BREAKING : Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, here we go! Agreement between clubs, total could reach £130 million. Sources at Manchester City confirm the deal is now finalized after final-stage discussions, as I reported last week.”

“Anderson asked Forest today to let him leave. The medical will take place in the United States.”

The most expensive player in premier league history

If the transfer goes through under these terms, Elliot Anderson will become the most expensive player ever in Premier League history. The previous record was held by Alexander Isak, who moved from Newcastle to Liverpool for £125 million (approximately €145 million).

Anderson will also become the most expensive British footballer of all time, surpassing Declan Rice, for whom Arsenal paid £105 million (around €122 million) to West Ham in 2023.

Anderson a starter for england at the world cup

Coming through the ranks at Newcastle, Elliot Anderson joined Nottingham Forest in 2024 for £40 million. His performances at the City Ground established him as a key midfielder, both for his club and the England national team, with whom he is currently competing in the World Cup.

Anderson started in England’s first two matches of the tournament and provided an assist in the 4-2 victory over Croatia. Manchester City view him as a central piece of their new project, following Pep Guardiola’s departure and the arrival of Enzo Maresca. It is highly likely the midfielder will sign after the World Cup.
